summary
If you’ve admired beautiful layered coffee drinks from your favorite local coffee shop, we wanted to show you just how easy they are to create at home! The trick to the layering is in the different temperatures: Room temperature matcha, cold milk and piping hot espresso keep distinct and pretty layers. Cheers!
ingredients
- 2 teaspoons matcha powder
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- ½ cup cold milk (or milk alternative)
- 2 ounces very hot espresso
directions
- In a glass, stir together the matcha and sugar with ¼ cup room temperature water. Stir vigorously until the matcha is completely blended.
- Pour the matcha into a serving glass. Add 1 cup of ice and then, pouring over the back of a teaspoon, add the cold milk. Next pour the piping hot coffee over the back of a teaspoon. Serve at once.
notes
We pour over a spoon because it disperses the liquid better, making liquid float more easily.
You can find matcha powder in the tea section of most grocery stores.
You can use milk, cream or any milk alternative in this drink.
