The mother-daughter duo have been quilting all of their lives, from matching fabric as children to designing textile masterpieces as they honed their skills. "Around the Bend" combines solids and charming vintage-inspired prints in a palette of cream, white, brown and blue hues. The organic cotton velvets, voiles and slubbed weaves create a fascinating interplay of texture, while the off-centered concentric squares give this quilt a dynamic energy that reminds us of modern art. Hand-quilted by talented artisans based on the quilters' original designs, this quilt and its coordinating pillow shams brings a work of art—and a piece of history—home.

The residents of Gee's Bend, Alabama, are direct descendants of the enslaved people who worked on the cotton plantation there.
